Health and Safety Policy Statement

Policy cover image representing workplace safety Health and Safety policy is a core element of our organizational commitment to protect people, property and the environment. This health & safety policy outlines the principles that guide our actions, the responsibilities that drive accountability and the practical measures we deploy to manage risk. We view workplace safety as integral to operational excellence and continuous improvement, not as a separate administrative burden.

Our safety policy expresses a proactive approach: identify hazards, assess risks, and implement controls to prevent injury, illness and damage. Senior leadership is responsible for setting the tone and providing resources, while managers and supervisors apply this health and safety management approach day-to-day. All staff are expected to participate in safety programs, report concerns and follow established safe systems of work.

Scope and Purpose

This health and safety statement applies to every part of our operations and every person engaged in our activities, including employees, contractors and visitors. The purpose of this health and safety policy is to create an organized framework for anticipating, assessing and controlling workplace hazards. It supports a culture where prevention is prioritized, incidents are learned from and improvements are sustained.

Policy Objectives

Our objectives include: to maintain safe and healthy working conditions; to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents; and to comply with relevant obligations and best practice standards. We commit to establishing measurable targets, monitoring performance and reporting transparently on progress. The safety goals are practical and risk-based, focused on eliminating hazards where possible and reducing residual risks through hierarchy of controls.

To achieve these objectives we provide training, information and competent supervision. Employees receive induction and role-specific instruction, while supervisors are trained to recognize hazards and to conduct effective briefings. We emphasize consultation and communication so that workforce input helps shape safe work methods and improvements are co-created rather than imposed.

Middle section graphic showing roles and responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities set out clear expectations: leadership provides strategy and resources; managers ensure safe systems of work; safety representatives facilitate two-way dialogue; and individuals follow safe practices. The organization encourages everyone to act as a safety observer and intervene when hazards are identified. Incident reporting, near-miss notification and hazard logging are essential parts of our risk management cycle.

Risk assessment is the cornerstone of our safety policy. Systematic risk identification, evaluation and control planning are undertaken before work begins and reviewed during operations. Controls follow a preferred sequence: elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative measures and personal protective equipment. Where exposure remains, monitoring and health surveillance help detect issues early so corrective measures can be implemented promptly.

We maintain documented procedures for key activities that carry inherent hazards. These procedures outline safe work steps, permit and isolation requirements, emergency arrangements and responsibilities for supervision and monitoring. Contractors and temporary personnel are required to demonstrate that their methods align with our safety management expectations before being authorized to work.

Engagement and competence are supported by training, toolbox talks and targeted coaching. Performance is reviewed through audits, inspections and regular safety meetings. Where deficiencies are found, corrective actions are tracked to completion and effectiveness is evaluated. Learning from events ensures that near misses and incidents lead to meaningful change rather than blame.

Emergency preparedness and response visual Emergency Preparedness is embedded in our safety policy with clear plans for evacuation, first aid, spill response and other contingencies. Emergency roles are designated, resources are maintained and drills are conducted to validate response capabilities. Communication channels and escalation procedures are clearly defined to ensure prompt action and support for those affected.

To promote continual improvement, we set performance indicators and review them at scheduled intervals. Management reviews consider audit findings, incident trends, training outcomes and stakeholder feedback to update priorities and resource allocations. The policy is periodically revised to reflect operational changes, technological advances and evolving best practices.

Summary image showing teamwork for safety In summary, this safety and health policy reflects our commitment to protecting people, preserving assets and minimizing environmental impact. It establishes a structured approach to risk management, defines responsibilities and promotes a culture of active participation. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to safety improvements, to speak up about hazards and to act responsibly. Together we create safer workplaces and sustainable operations through vigilance, cooperation and continuous learning.

  • Prevention: Prioritize hazard elimination and risk reduction.
  • Participation: Involve people at all levels in safety decisions.
  • Performance: Measure, review and improve health and safety outcomes.

Note: This document outlines the general health and safety framework. Specific procedures and measures are detailed in separate operational documents and risk assessments relevant to each activity or location.
